Where does June Raw Food source its ingredients, and how is the food made?
Our food is USDA-inspected, with human-grade ingredients sourced from local grocery stores, the same places where you usually purchase your own food. We grind and mix all dog food in our own kitchen, which means that we take great care to ensure cleanliness and a sanitary production process. Each package is hand-labeled and checked for quality, and we maintain the frozen chain of conservation. Our company is overseen by our very own specialist in diet and veterinary nutrition, June, who is dedicated to delivering health and love in every package.
How much should I feed, and what will it cost?
Every dog is unique, and the exact plan and pricing options will depend on your dog and their dietary requirements. Feeding amounts are determined by your pet’s age, activity level, weight, and recipe choice. We recommend using our calculator to determine your pet’s personalized feeding recommendations using June Raw Food. In general, the cost of dog food for an 8 to 10 lbs. dog may vary between $45 to $50 per month. We deliver the food right to your door.
What should I feed my puppy?
We recommend taking our quiz to get the most accurate feeding recommendations for your growing pup. If you have additional questions or need a custom feeding plan, you can always send us an email, and our nutrition experts will be happy to assist.
What protein should I start with?
It’s not necessary to offer more than one protein per meal. You can switch to another protein every other week or once a month as you see fit. As long as your dog doesn’t have any food intolerance issues, you can choose from our menu options.
How do you ensure the safety of your raw food?
In June Raw Food, food safety, and sanitation are our top priorities. We source USDA-inspected meat and prepare all the meals in our kitchen, where we also prepare our own food for the whole family. This means we adhere to strict food safety standards when preparing meals.
Can I cook your food?
We do not recommend cooking our food. If your dog is very picky, we recommend gently sautéing it over low to medium heat for 2-3 minutes. Make sure to feed any liquid that is cooked out along with the food to ensure you retain all the nutrients.
Are Happy Mix recipes suitable for my pet?
Our Happy Mix recipes are based on the prey model, with 60% raw meaty bones, 20% raw meat and muscle meat, 10% secreting organs, and 10% fruits and vegetables, with no added supplements or preservatives. Our Happy Mix recipes were developed by our very own pet nutritionist, who also runs the company. Meet June!
What are the recipes and ingredients?
Our nutritionist carefully formulates each recipe to be 100% complete and balanced, using all human-grade ingredients and processes. June Raw Food creates a variety of human-grade recipes that are simple in nature and use different proteins. We never use feed-grade ingredients. Every recipe contains clean USDA nutrients, and all our ingredients are human-grade and sourced from local grocery stores that meet USDA standards.
How do you determine my dog’s portions?
We have the advantage of being personally managed by a pet nutritionist who works daily to determine the optimal requirements for different combinations of age, activity level, weight, and nutritional needs.
Is your food suitable for puppies?
We offer recipe options suitable for every life stage, so your puppy is covered as well. Our nutritionist, through our questionnaire, will recommend a plan that’s just right for your dog’s needs. Just fill out our questionnaire, and you can be sure your dog will get the best meal.
Do I need to refrigerate the food?
Absolutely, because we don’t use any preservatives. Our food is completely fresh and raw, so it’s essential that you keep the frozen chain of conservation. Keep the food at a safe temperature in a freezer. Before feeding, you can transfer the packs to your refrigerator to thaw over 24 hours. In the fridge, the food will be good to serve to your dog for up to 12 hours. Try to serve it at room temperature.
Do you ship nationwide?
No, as our food is completely raw and requires extreme care to maintain the frozen chain. We only offer a local service in the Miami Dade and Broward counties. Our delivery system is personalized to your convenience, right from our Kitchen to your hands.
How long will the food last?
We recommend storing the food packs in the freezer; they will last up to 4 months unopened and completely frozen.
How should I make the switch/transition to June Raw Food?
To avoid an upset stomach, the switch should be gradual and may require extra patience in some cases. A new diet can cause disruption because the dog needs to adapt their microbiome to the new diet. The process should take around 7 to 10 days, with each step lasting 2 days.
- – First 2 days, mix in 25% of the new diet into the old food.
- – On days 3-4, serve 50% of the new diet with 50% of the old food.
- – On days 5-7, serve 75% of the new diet with 25% of the old food.
- – On day 7, serve 100% of the new food.
Every pup is different, so if you notice that your dog is not comfortable, has an upset stomach, abnormal stools, or strange behavior at mealtime, you can wait a few extra days before increasing the amount of new food. If you take it slow and listen to your puppy, you’ll ensure a smooth transition.
Were your recipes formulated by a nutritionist?
Yes, all of our recipes were formulated by our own specialist in diet and pet nutrition, who also runs the company.
What kind of edible bone is in the June Raw Food recipes?
The edible bone is finely ground into the meals, making it completely safe to feed your dog. We primarily use chicken thighs for the recipes.
My dog won't eat raw food anymore. What should I do?
Dogs can sometimes become bored with their food. If your dog no longer wants to eat raw food, try a different protein or add a topper to make it more appealing.
We do not recommend it because raw food digests quickly, while dry food is heavier in carbohydrates and takes more time to digest. Mixing them can lead to constipation and discomfort in your pet.
